David A. Bencze, Sr.

David A. Bencze, Sr., age 72, of Hobart passed away Saturday June 1, 2024, in his home with his family at his side. David was born January 27, 1952, in Gary, Indiana to the late Andrew and Helen (Oslislo) Bencze. He was an ASE certified Diesel Mechanic that worked formerly for Volvo. David was an accomplished musician and loved playing guitar.

David is survived by his loving wife, Sandy (Allendorf) Bencze; two children, David Bencze, Jr. of Hobart, and Nicole (Brian) Ondrako of Grayslake, Illinois; three grandchildren, Alexis Bencze, Andrew Ondrako, and Chelsea Ondrako; a brother, Richard (Phyllis) Bencze of Greenville; four sisters, Mary (Larry) Olson of Hobart, Barbara (Jeff) Ronciak of Crown Point, Kathy Wojtowicz of Hebron, and Andrea (Mike) Lesnick of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Thursday June 6, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Cremation will follow.
