Obituary

Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, David stayed true to his roots throughout his life. He graduated from Calumet High School in 1985 and soon after began a lifelong career and passion as an auto mechanic, working alongside his father and uncle. Over the decades, he built his skills in shops across the Gary area, earning respect for his hard work and dedication. David's generous heart and unforgettable sense of humor touched more lives than he ever realized. He faced a long illness, surrounded by his family's love. He loved deeply and was cherished by so many. He will be profoundly missed, and though our hearts ache without him, we take comfort in knowing he is finally at peace. He is survived by his longtime companion, Kelli Smith; his children, Angela (Joshua) Mutschler, Brandi (William) Bell, Amber Smith, and Michael (Katlynn) Bundy; his grandchildren, Braylee Bruner, Sadie Bruner, Sophia Mutschler, Carter Mutschler, Kamryn Smith, William Bell V, Chloe Arnoux, Sadie Arnoux, Lola Arnoux, Liv Arnoux, Michael Bundy III, Peyton Bundy, Eli Bundy, and Levi Bundy; his great-grandchildren, Maesyn and Madelyn Eggert; and his sister, Nancy Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Judy Hardesty; his granddaughter, McKenzie Grace; his brother, Bobby Hardesty; and his sister, Kris Hardesty. We will forever love you, David. You will be deeply missed, but we can picture you riding your motorcycle in the sky, the wind at your back, free from every worry. Your love and your light will always remain in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. 💔 A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 15th at 3:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2593, 7229 W. 25th Avenue, Gary, IN 46408, where David was a proud longtime member. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
