DAVID LEE HERRERA, age 78, of Hobart, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1946, in Gary, Indiana to the late John, Sr. and Mildred Herrera. David graduated from Lew Wallace High School and went on to proudly serve in the US Army during Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Vickie Sue Tincher on September 16, 1967 and spent many loving years with her until her death on April 17, 2024. David was a retiree of US Steel after many years of service. He enjoyed looking at and collecting classic cars in his free time. He loved his family dearly and will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, Vickie and his sons.

He is survived by his sons, Steven Herrera and Jason (Ashley) Herrera; nieces and nephews, Tony Herrera, Joe (Tina) Herrera, Sherry Herrera, Michael Crook, Carrie Dunahoo, Marilyn, Brian Pritchard, Butch Pritchard, and Tammy (Eddie) Applegate; sister-in-law, Debbie (Eddie) Bolde; other loving family and dear friends.

David was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Vickie Sue Herrera; brothers, Ernesto, Johnny, Jerry and Mike; nephew, Richard Herrera; and niece, Lynda Herrera.

There will be memorial visitation for David on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. with Military Honors at 4 p.m., at Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart. Please extend condolences online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
