David R. Hill, 89, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving children.  He was born September 28, 1934, in Gary, Indiana to the late Willis and Violet (Rockwell) Hill.

Early in his career, David worked for MCA/Universal color correcting various films.  He later went to work for US Steel and eventually retired from there.  In his spare time, David enjoyed nature walks, photography, and painting.  He had a special interest in astronomy and loved looking at the stars.  Above all, David loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to nurse Brittany Turner of AseraCare Hospice and nurse Sue Markos of Rittenhouse for taking such good care of their father.

David is survived by his children, Matt Hill, Adam (Pam) Hill, and Lori (Arlan) Jacobs; and grandchildren Kyle Jacobs, Brett (Annette) Hill, and Tim (Erica) Frame; long-time fishing buddy, Brent; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Judith (Kish) Hill; brother, Jans Hill; and lifelong friend, Bert.

Family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 6:00pm the evening of December 5, 2023, at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368.  Funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday, December 6, also at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel with burial to follow at McCool Cemetery.
