David R. Mendoza, age 66, of Portage passed away Wednesday January 11, 2017 at his home. David was born January 27, 1950 in Gary, IN to the late Harry and Mary (Gondaldia) Mendoza. He was the owner and operator of his own carpet cleaning business. Often referred to as "Disco Dave", his passions in life included dancing, entertaining family and friends, fixing up his home for his children, and making every day count. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

He is survived by one son, Shannon Mendoza of Portage; one daughter, Dawn (Michael) Iacovino of Florida; three grandchildren, Alex Mendoza, Courtney Vickers and Michael David Iacovino, Jr.; four brothers, Art Mendoza of Griffith, Harry Mendoza, Jr. of Portage, Tom Mendoza of Portage and Dan Mendoza of California; one sister MaryAnn (Ismael) Garcia of Texas; and many extended family members.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy (Nee Ross) Mendoza, his parents and one brother Bill Mendoza.

Visitation will be from 9-10 am Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday at the church with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Cremation will follow.
