Obituary

David A. Schultz, age 63, of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 30, 1950 in Gary, Indiana to the late Harry and Miriam Schultz. David retired from Landmark Sign Company and was a member of the IBEW local 697 and the Izaak Walton League of Portage. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating, gardening and working with stained glass. David took many vacations to Mexico and Jamaica but his happiest memories were made fishing on Kentucky Lake. He will always be remembered as someone who loved his friends.

David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Schultz; sister, Lynn (Bill) George; mother in law, Mary Roth; brother in law, Chuck (Sharon) Roth; sister in law, Linda Vandergriff; best friend, Don Magee; nephews, Bryan (Amy) George, Eric Roth and Chuck Roth; nieces, Angela (Nate) Gonzales, Tiffany (fiance Jeremy) Dykhuizen, Amanda (fiance Kevin) Phipps and Suzie (Joe) Kroledge; cousins, Barb (Jeff) Dvorak, Glenn Thompson, Chuck (Diane) Thompson, Rich (Niecie) Thompson, John Ring, Jeanie (Rob) Marquez and Tommy Ring and several great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Jason Schultz; parents, Harry and Miriam Schultz; brother, Jeff Schultz; nephew, Nick George; father in law, Chuck Roth; sister in law, Kathy Beard. Memorial contributions in David's name may be made to VNA Hospice.

Funeral Service will take place Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 6:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue Portage, IN with Pastor Michaile Broadnax of Portage Evangelical Covenant Church officiating. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 2:00 pm until the time of service. For more information please call (219) 762-3013.
