David Leon Stanley

David L. Stanley, age 77, of Portage passed away Saturday, June, 16, 2018. He was born on August 23, 1940 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Andrew Earl and Zantha Laverne Stanley. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. On March 31, 1962, in Blytheville, Arkansas, he married Sharon (nee Higgins) Stanley. David retired from US Steel where he worked as an operator on the #6 Tinning Line. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1066.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sharon Stanley; son, David (Cynthia) Stanley, Jr.; daughters, Karen (Joseph) DeSoto, Tina (Michael) Daily, Kimberley (Daniel) Hughes, Shanna Haack; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brothers, Buford Eugene Stanley, Charles L. Stanley, Ricky Dale Stanley; sisters, Barbara N. Stanley, Carolyn Faye Macphil, Deborah Earline Baker, Patricia Diane Davis; many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Allen Stanley; sisters, Peggy Fielder and Sandra Gail Merrick.

A memorial service for David will take place Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
