David J. Van Horn, age 77 passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019.  David was a resident of Crown Point and was a formerly a longtime Hobart resident. He was born on August 26, 1942 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Ralph and Bonnie Van Horn. David graduated from Griffith High School, Class of 1961.  He retired from Nipsco in 1998 where he had worked as a Pressure Meter Man.  David was an avid golfer.  He was also an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bears, White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks.  He and his best buddy "Dino" are now together again.

David is survived by one son, Todd (Doreen) Van Horn of Jackson, MI; three granddaughters, Lexy, Sierra, and Sadie, one sister, Nancy (George) Kelly of Merrillville, IN, nieces and nephews, Missy, Jackie, and Jeff. two step-sons, Jimmy and Jeff, and  special friend, Pamela (James) Sumler of Cedar Lake, IN;

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David "DJ" Van Horn, Jr., one brother, Edwin "Reggie" Van Horn.

Funeral services are Monday January 6,  2020 at 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Tom Shanahan officiating.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.  Visitation is Monday, January 6,  2020 just prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.  (219) 942-2109.
