Dawn Bernice (Crizer) Yovanovich

Dawn B. Yovanovich, age 66, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Indianapolis. She was born on January 30, 1952 in Gary, Indiana to Daucy and Vivian (Swanson) Crizer. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Walter P. Yovanovich. Dawn was a lifelong active member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Hobart, where she was bell choir director, sang in the choir, and participated in bible study and committees. She graduated from Indiana University with degrees in Education and Library Science, retiring from a career as a Media Specialist at Portage High School. Dawn belonged to GLOW retirement group and GLOW Worms book club, was an expert quilter and seamstress, enjoyed family genealogy, loved flowers and her cats, was a wonderful cook and hostess, and played the piano. Dawn was known for her generosity and love of family, friends and others.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Jim Eaton; and niece, Marcia Eaton. Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons Alex (Audra) Yovanovich and Neil (Diana) Yovanovich; and her especially loved grandchildren, Mara and Lorenzo; also siblings Clarke (Joyce) Crizer; Kay Eaton; Joyce (Charles) Daniels; Dwight Crizer; Kurt (Lisa) Crizer; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation for Dawn will take place at Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 N. Kelly St., Hobart, IN 46342 on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. Her funeral service will be Saturday, November 3, 2018, 10 a.m. at the church.Burial will be at McCool Cemetery . In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church Foundation. Any flowers should be delivered to the church.
