Dean W. Tolliver, age 65, a resident of Chesterton, passed away at home Wednesday, July 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 12, 1949 to the late Wayne and Violet (nee Faulkner) Tolliver in Gary, Indiana. On March 30, 1968 Dean married the love of his life, Shirley Beal in Lake Station, Indiana. He was a director of Zach Gives Back Scholarship. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for nine years with a 1969-1970 tour in Vietnam. He served as a Helicopter Crew Chief/Door Gunner. Dean was an avid Cubs and NHRA fan who enjoyed watching baseball. He will be remembered as a tough old bird, loving husband and father.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Tolliver of Chesterton; daughter, Michelle Woodard of Lake Station; son, Scott Tolliver of Colorado and his canine companion Tank.
He joined his grandson, Zachary Woodard in Heaven.

Rees Funeral Home will be conducting a Green Burial for Dean that will be held at 2 pm EST on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Springvale Cemetery, 2580 Schuyler Ave. Lafayette, IN 47904 with Pastor Charles Cooper officiating. A remembrance service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Liverpool Baptist Church, 3315 E. 35th Place, Lake Station, IN.
