Deborah Kay Sarson

Deborah Kay Sarson (nee Childers), age 73 of Portage passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2022.  She was born on May 10, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Howard and Virginia Childers.   She was a longtime Northwest Indiana resident and had attended Liberty Bible Church in Valparaiso.  Deborah loved being a grandma, traveling, road trips, and going to the casinos.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Sarson of Portage, IN; one daughter, Rachael (Albert "AJ") Smith of Valparaiso, IN; two brothers, Michael (Gail) Childers of Portage, IN; Donovan (Late Linda) Childers of Hobart, IN; one granddaughter, Penelope Smith and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Bible Church, 1155 South Sturdy Road, Valparaiso, IN  46383 with Pastor Brad Haitsma officiating.  Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.  Visitation is Monday, December 26, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.  (219) 942-2109.
