Debra L. Arteaga

Debra L. Arteaga, age 71, of Chesterton passed away Thursday December 4, 2025, at the University of Chicago Hospitals in Hyde Park. Debra was born February 24, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Louis and Deloris (Flores) Arteaga. Debra worked as a long-distance operator for AT&T prior to her retirement. She enjoyed working puzzles, Card games, and board games. Debra loved bowling and bowled in several leagues when her health allowed.

Debra is survived by her Life partner, Mary Jo Varela; a brother and two sisters, Mario (Yolanda) Sr., Mary (Pedro), and Trisha (Tony); several nieces and nephews, from the ARTEAGA family, the MENDEZ family, and ORNELAS; and many dear friends, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Louis Jr., Anthony, and Edward Sr.

Visitation for Debra will be Saturday December 13, 2025, at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 pm. Cremation will follow.
