DELBERT G. SOLOMON, age 94, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at St. Mary Medical Center. He was born in South Lake County, IN on May 27, 1923 to the late John and Elizabeth Solomon. He served in the US Army as a Paratrooper during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the VFW in Lowell and a faithful member First United Methodist Church of Hobart. Delbert retired from NIPSCO as a lineman supervisor after 41 years of service. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Thomas (Natalie) Solomon, Hobart, Robert Solomon, Valparaiso; grandchildren, Brandy, Thomas (Jessica) and Kara (fiance, Brian Bush) Castaneda; great grandchildren, Logan, Owen, and Kinley; sister-in-law, Irene Solomon, Lowell; many nieces, nephews and other loving family.
Delbert was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Fay (nee Cravens); sons, James and Mark; 5 brothers, Clarence, Daniel, Elmer, Roy and William Solomon; 2 sisters, Ellen Ellis and Doris Solomon.
A visitation for Delbert will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev.
