Delosa Mirie Quillen

Delosa Mirie Quillen, age 81, a long time resident of Hobart passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. She was born on January 9, 1930 in Bastian, Virginia the daughter of James and Captoley Baker. Mirie was married to Edward M. Quillen on October 23, 1954 in Gate City, Virginia. Mirie and Edward moved to Hobart in 1963 and were members of The Church of Jesus Christ in Gary. Mirie loved to quilt, do crafts, and canning. She helped to cook and coordinate dinners at the church. She also loved to collect strawberries, apples, and angels.

Mirie is survived by her loving family; husband Edward Quillen, Hobart, sons Jerald (Trish) Quillen, Portage, and Glenn (Patty) Quillen, Portage, grandchildren Jerald Quillen, Matthew Urbanczyk, Allan Urbanczyk, Shawn Quillen, Juni Quillen, Brandon Worley, and Crystal Worley, brothers Gene (Eileen) Baker, Big Stone Cap, Virginia, Carter (Peggy) Baker, Duffield, Virginia, and Essie (Patty) Baker, Gate City, Virginia, and sister Gladys DeBoard, Portage, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Brenda Carrol Quillen, and brothers Roe and Claude Baker.

A visitation for Mirie Quillen will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home with Bishop Tommy Doughty, officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
