Dennis M. "Dennie" Sobkowicz, age 58 of Hobart, and formerly of Hammond, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born on September 19, 1956 in Hammond. Dennie was a member of ARC of NW Indiana, Down Syndrome Assoc. of America (DSA), and Assumption B.V.M Catholic Church. He will be remembered as loving brother and uncle.
Dennie is survived by his seven siblings, Paul (Pat) Sobkowicz, Anthony (Gerry) Sobkowicz, Geri (Bob) Hefley, Dorie (Sam) Little, Betty Ring, Lorraine Fedor, Bill (Sue) Sobkowicz, many nieces and nephews; caregiver, Shy Juan Clemons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Jennie Sobkowicz and sister, Patricia Shoulders

A Funeral service for Dennie will take place, Friday, May 15, 2015 beginning with prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart at 9:30 am and then proceeding Assumption BVM Church, 3530 Illinois Street, Hobart, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Reverend Lourdu Pasala officiating. He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
