Diane M. Newton, age 57, of Portage passed away Saturday September 1, 2012 at the Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born August 16, 1955 in Chicago, IL to the late Edward and Geraldine (Shepherd) Travis. On June 21, 1975 she married Gerald Newton in Lake Station, Indiana. She worked in the Grocery Receiving Department for Walmart. Diane loved her family and animals of all kinds.

She is survived by her loving husband Gerald Newton of Portage; two sons David (Lindsay) Newton of Pueblo West, CO and Patrick Newton of Portage; two granddaughters Larkin and Dannin; one brother Edward (Charmaine) Travis of Mokena, IL; one sister Patricia Sampier of Dallas, TX; a niece Jacqueline Garza of Dallas, TX and a nephew Dale Travis of Tinley Park, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday September 6, 2012 from 3-7pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368.
