Diane L. Shay

Diane L. Shay, age 75, of Portage, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.  She was born in Gary, Indiana on December 10, 1943 to the late Peter and Anise (nee Stockman) Piazza.  She was a limo driver and owner of a limo company, terminal manager and dispatcher of several trucking companies, and also worked at Crossroads as a manager of the travel store.  She enjoyed driving and would often take road trips.  Diane especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she will be missed by many.

Diane is survived by her children, Kathleen Embry, James (Colleen) Shay, Joseph (Jennifer) Shay; grandchildren, Ryan (Marlena) Embry, Matthew Johnson, Andrew (Kelly) Johnson, Emily Shay, Bailey Shay, Delaney Shay, Angela Shay, Cassie Shay, Joseph Shay, James Shay; great grandchildren, Maykala, Jayden, Avery, Carter, Austin; brother, Peter (Kathy) Piazza; and sisters, Martha (Stewart) Fleck, Gina (Dan) Schupp.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Gaddis; and brother, Joe Piazza.

A funeral service for Diane will take place Monday, October 21, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Bob Burton officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368.  She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.  Visitation will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 12-6 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.  For more information, please call 219-762-3013.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com .
