Dillard D Tallant, age 89 of Portage, IN, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 21, 1925 in Murfeesboro, Arkansas the son of the late Rector and Beatrice (nee Graves) Tallant. Dillard was a retired Carpenter for Local 1005. On June 11,1948 Dillard married his bride, Jean (nee Lawson) Tallant in Murfeesboro, Arkansas. He will be remembered as a loving, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Dillard is survived by his wife of 66 yrs, Jean (nee Lawson) Tallant of Portage; son, Richard D. (Debra) Tallant of Union Mills; daughter, Judy (David) Trathen of Portage, four grandchildren, Tanya (Joe) Corbett, Tina Fischer, Jason (Bonita) Fischer and Douglas Tallant; four great-grandchildren, Courtney (Kyle) Corbett; Emily Fischer ,Scott Cox and Jeffery Smith;great-great granddaughter, Sophia Ludford; brother, George (Judy) Tallant of Portage , numerous nieces nephews; special niece, Bobbie Emerick and other loving family members and friends.
Dillard is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tally and Benard Tallant and two sisters Elsie Chism and Hopie Martin.
A funeral service for Dillard will be Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage Chapel. Burial will be at McCool Cemetery, Portage.
