In Loving Memory of Djuro Kolundzija
Djuro Kolundzija, of Hobart, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 20, 1964, in Glina, Croatia, Djuro was the beloved son of the late Milan and Jelica (née Djankovic) Kolundzija. He carried with him the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family throughout his life. Djuro married the love of his life, Goranka Djukic, in Stara Pazova. Together they shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and unwavering commitment, building a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. To know Djuro was to know a man with an incredibly generous heart. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, never expecting anything in return. Whether a family member, friend, neighbor, or even a stranger needed assistance, Djuro was there. His kindness and selflessness left a lasting mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. He will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Djuro was a true jokester whose quick wit, playful spirit, and infectious laughter could brighten even the darkest day. He loved making people smile, and his laughter became one of the greatest gifts he shared with those around him. After many years of dedicated work, Djuro enjoyed retirement, especially the simple pleasures of spending time with his family and friends. He treasured every conversation, every gathering, and every opportunity to be surrounded by the people he loved. Above all else, Djuro was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and a loyal friend. His greatest joy was his family, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in their hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Milan and Jelica Kolundzija.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Goranka Kolundzija; his cherished daughters, Jelena Kolundzija and Bojana Kolundzija, both of Hobart; his brother, Ilija Kolundzija of Hobart; along with many extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit.
While our hearts are broken by his passing, we are grateful for the years we shared with him. We will remember his warm smile, his helping hands, his laughter, and the unconditional love he gave to everyone around him. Though he is no longer with us in person, his spirit will remain a guiding light in our lives, and his memory will be treasured forever. Per Djuro’s wishes there will be no services held. Cremation is entrusted to Rees Funeral Home 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. (219) 942-2109 or online condolences can be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com
