Dolores Chelf

Dolores Jean Chelf was born 29 Dec, 1926 in the Garyton portion of what is now Portage, Indiana. The youngest of three children, she was the only daughter of Bertha Chelf (neé Foreman) and Edgar Chelf. In the 1950s, she began working as a clerk, and even in her later years, worked for the unemployment agency Workforce One and the Portage Resale Shop. Coworkers remember her fondly for her great sense of humor and her seemingly boundless empathy. While she never married, she was a dearly beloved aunt to six, great aunt to ten, and great great aunt to six nieces and nephews who now carry on without her presence but walk always with her in their hearts. Dolores passed on 2 Nov, 2022, and now rests in peace. She is preceded through the doors of eternity by her father and mother, her brothers Kenneth and Orville Chelf, Orville's wife Patricia Chelf (neé Devine), her nephews Robert and James Chelf and niece Michelle Siroky (neé Chelf). A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday November 16, 2022, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue Portage.
