Dolores Hernandez age 75 of Lake Station passed away Monday March 14, 2011. She was born on November 13, 1935 in Gary, Indiana. She was a longtime resident of Lake Station, and a member of St Francis Xavier Church. Dolores worked for First United Insurance, Kemper Insurance and the Hobart Wise Way. She bowled on the Great Eagles Senior League at Rays Lanes. Dolores will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 33 years, Joel Hernandez of Lake Station, IN; 5 daughters, Beverly Carson of Portland, OR; Kim (Norm) Dehnart of Lake Station, IN; Lydia (Art) Guel of Mount Vernon, WA; Rosa (Harry) Sideris, Cecilia (Elias) Kantzioris, 1 son, Joel Hernandez Jr., 2 sisters, Pat Thomas and her longtime companion Skip Bourque, Sylvia Catherman, 3 granddaughters, Courtney (Chris) Miller, Jordin and Peyton Guel, great-granddaughters, Olivia and Ava Miller, nieces, Sherri (Rich) Scatozzi, Lori Woodworth, Michelle (Rick) Marino, Stephanie (Cortez) Williams, Shellie (Michael) Winkoff, great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael, Anthony, Mathew, Adam, Brooke, Trisha, Tasha, Adrianna, and great-nephew to be, Caiden Michael Winkoff, lifelong friends, Sally Wishmeyer, and Doris Christian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Ann Rodriguez, and dear friends and cousins, Rebecca "Becca" Yanez and Rene Yanez.

There will be a funeral mass for Dolores on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station with Rev. Eduardo Malagon officiating. Visitation is Friday March 18, 2011 just prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St Francis Xavier. Cremation will follow with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hobart Chapel.
