Dolores Ione Kegebein, age 80 of Hobart, IN passed away Monday, November 29, 2010. She was born on April 1, 1930 in Delta, OH. She was a former resident of South Bend. Dolores was the past first district President of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, past Grand of Indiana President of MOCA, Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54, Past Auxiliary President VFW Post 5365. She worked on all VFW National Programs state and local, she was especially proud of her work in trying to have a National Veterans Cemetery in Northern Indiana. She was a past member of the Hobart City Improvement Committee and she served as Hobart's Memorial Day and Veterans Day Chairman for 29 years. Dolores was very active in Civic programs serving the community and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by 9 children, Deborah (David) Nowicki; Patricia Sheetz; Joseph (Janet) Wojcik; Stephen Wojcik; Denis (Jackie) Wojcik; Edward (Mary) Wojcik; Robert (Lisa) Wojcik; Gregory (Becky) Wojcik; and Theresa (Morgan) Solomon; 29 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Mabel Austin, her husband, Albert Kegebein, sister, Juanita Smiley.
Funeral services are Friday, December 3, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at St Michaels Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana. Visitation is Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
