Dolores J. Matye, age 89, of Portage passed away Tuesday September 19, 2017 in Merrillville, Indiana. She was born December 27, 1927 in Effingham, Illinois to the late Joseph and Jenny Mae (Greer) Aydt. Dolores retired from Ball Glass, Co. 1990 where she was a Packer for 26 years. She was a life member of Amvets Auxiliary Post #64 in Whiting, former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #5365 in Hobart, American Legion Auxiliary for Post # 54 in Hobart, Moose Lodge #783 in Hobart and NWI Retirees Club. Dolores enjoyed crocheting, camping and reading.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Joseph Jack DeLuca of Portage and Samuel (Melinda) DeLuca of Chesterton; three step-daughters, Stephanie (Steve) Oslizlo, Annette Matye and Kathy Matye; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Eddie) Hernandez, Edwin Joseph DeLuca, Jessica Ann DeLuca, John Palovic and Nancy Hebda; nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dolores was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon DeLuca; her parents; her husband Louis; and three brothers, Kenneth Aydt, and Robert and Arthur Aydt (Both of whom were killed in the line of service during WWII).
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday September 23, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Rev. Roque Meraz officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the Funeral Home.
