Domenica "Dom" Jaksa, age 97, a lifelong resident of Gary and Hobart passed away, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Avalon Springs Nursing Home in Valparaiso. Domenica was born on April 7, 1916 in Hobart, Indiana the daughter of the late John and Angela (nee Bertuca) Montoro. She was a 1983 retiree of US Steel where she worked as a mill recorder. On June 8, 1935 Domenica Montoro married Emerick Jaksa in Crown Point, Indiana. She will be remembered as a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Domenica is survived by her granddaughter, Jacquelyn Westerfield of Valparaiso; two great-granddaughters, Kathryn and Alexa Westerfield; sister, Angela (Rudy) Heater of Florida and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Emerick; parents; son, Mathew Jaksa; two brothers, Joseph and Theodore Montoro; two sisters, Frances Montoro and Mary Razumich.
