Dominick Xavier Ramirez, age 18, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He was born on January 3, 2008, in Hobart, Indiana, to Trisha and Anthony Ramirez.
Dom was a cherished son, brother, and friend whose laughter, compassion, and caring heart touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a gentle spirit and a special way with animals and children, who were naturally drawn to him. As a child, he lovingly referred to himself as a “cat whisperer,” and more recently, he enjoyed teaching his brother’s dog, Midas, new tricks.
Dom recently graduated from Portage High School with the Class of 2026. He was currently employed at Walmart, where he proudly worked hard and saved enough money to purchase his dream car—a brand-new Honda Civic Sport in Boost Blue Pearl. It was a source of great pride and joy for him.
When he wasn’t working, Dom enjoyed spending time weightlifting at Classics Gym, where he dedicated himself to becoming stronger. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved watching WWE with his brother, Andrew. Above all, Dom treasured the time he spent with his family and friends, creating memories that will forever be held close.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, humor, and loving spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his heartbroken parents, Trisha and Anthony Ramirez; his beloved brother, Andrew Ramirez; his girlfriend, Arianna Cowger; his grandmother who he referred to as “mom”, Delores Cook; his pappy and grandma, Jackie and Kim Cook; his yaya and pawpaw, Mary and Danny Golden; aunt, Angela Golden; uncle, Justin Collins; cousins, Elysia (Jeremiah) Thompson, Sienna Gainer, and Willow Collins; his dear friends, Cole Runyan and Gabe Oparinde, who held a special place in his heart; and many great aunts, great uncles, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Visitation for Dominick will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
