Don B. Dean, age 70, passed away Tuesday November 15, 2016at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Don was born February 24, 1946 in Odon, Indiana to the late Charles and Edith (Shake) Dean. Don was the maintenance director of the Portage Township Schools and a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Portage. He loved fishing, camping, gardening and antique cars.

Don is survived by his loving wife Debbie; three sons, Scott (Tammy) Dean of Portage, Mark (Tanya) Dean of Winder, GA and Richard (Holly) Dean of Dunn, NC; five grandchildren, Taylor Dean, Kailynn Dean, Drake Dean, Caidence Dean and Sarah Dean; Four brothers Charles Dean of Texas, Norman Chambers of Indiana, Cecil Dean of Tennessee and Thomas Dean of Illinois; two sisters Margaret Harkrader of Illinois and Carolyn Ingram of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Don's life will be conducted at the Valparaiso Mennonite Church 1305 Silhavy Road, Valparaiso, IN 46383 on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 4 pm. There will be a time of sharing with Don's family from 2 pm until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are preferred to the Valparaiso Mennonite Church or the Porter County VNA Hospice Center 2401 Valley Drive, Valapraiso, IN 46383.
