Donald L. Baker

Donald L. Baker, age 72, of Galien, Michigan and formerly of Gary, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020.  Donald was born September 26, 1947 in Watervliet, Michigan to the late Clarence and Nellie (Bronson) Baker.  Mr. Baker was a truck driver.   Donald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Portage. He was a US Naval Veteran and an excellent high school and college athlete.

Donald is survived by his son, Adam Baker of Tampa, FL; his daughter, Bethany Baker of Ft. Collins, CO; his stepson, Chris (Lisa) Sheid of Hobart; his four sisters, Penny Baker, Peggy Ballard, Deanna (Mark) Sobralski and Debbie (Art) Young, all of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patty Krueger, one niece, Traci Krueger, one brother-in-law, Pete Ballard, and one nephew, Peter Ballard.

Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, February 17, 2020 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368 with Pastor Jarret R. Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Indiana.  Visitation will be conducted from 2:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the funeral home.
