Donald "Don" Barry Fields, age 66, of Portage passed away Wednesday November14, 2018.  Donald was born April 26, 1952 in Gary, Indiana to the late Herman and Nevelyn (Warren) Fields.  Don retired from US Steel with 45 years of service as an instrument repairman.  Don loved fishing, telling jokes and watching the Cubs.  He was also a musician that played in several local bands over the years. He was a 1970 graduate of River Forest High School.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Dorothy Fields; one daughter, Lisa  (John) Fields of Lake Station; two sons, Jason (Melony) Fields of South Bend and Cody (Morgan) Fields of Hobart; six wonderful grandchildren, Justin, Devon, Jacob, Jeanyn, Jaden and Rylan; two brothers, Ron (Jackie) Fields of Lake Station and Dicky (Vonnie) Fields of Arkansas; Becky (Gary) Wade of Ohio; Many nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances who dearly loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Tuesday November 20, 2018 at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368 with Mr. Steve Campbell officiating.  Cremation will follow.  Visitation is from 2:00- 7 :00 pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
