Obituary

Donald "Don" G. Earl

Age 78, of Hobart, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart. Don was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on October 25, 1932 to the late Hildred and Edmund Earl. He was a lifetime area resident and graduate of Wirt High School class of 1950. Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and retired as a Senior Staff Chemist for Inland Steel on August 1,1993. He was a member of St Bridget Church, Knights of Columbus, Gary Serra Club, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his wife Dorythe (nee Blaney) Earl of Hobart, son; John (Loretta) Earl of Valparaiso, daughter; Cynthia (Robert) Saylor of Florida, 4 grandchildren, Brayden Saylor, Ryan Saylor, Christopher (Alma) Campbell and Amanda (Dale) Veatch 1 great-granddaughter; Skyler Veatch, brother; Robert (Sharon) Earl of Valparaiso 2 sisters; Carolyn Barnes of Portage and Mary Leyba of South Bend, many other loving family members and friends.
His parents, brother Kenneth Earl and sister; Linda Stewart precede Don in death.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 2, 2011 they will start with 9:30 prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, processing to St. Bridget Church, 568 E. 2nd Street, Hobart, IN 46342 for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Father Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.
A visitation for Don will be Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 2:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 3:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
