DONALD L. "DON" GADDIS, age 80, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Munster Community Hospital. Don was a Portage resident for 50 years and a US Marine Corps Veteran during the Korean Era. He retired from Inland Steel with 27 years of service and was then employed at the Bonner Center in Portage as their bus driver. Don was a member of American Legion South Haven Post #502 and Portage VFW Post #7760.
Donald is survived by his wife, Gerri, 2 sons, Donald A. (Andi) Gaddis of
Wheatfield, IN, Kenneth R. Gaddis of Redman, WA and daughter, Lisa M. Gaddis of Valparaiso, sister, Dorothy (Joe) Merrell of Lowell, IN, 2 step-children: Susan M. Boger of Valparaiso and Richard E. Schafer of Portage, 6 grandchildren: Kristan Glancy, Ashley Boger, Richie Schafer, Ryan Gaddis, Rachel Gaddis and Lauren Gaddis, great grandson, Caden Schafer and numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 20, 2012 at 10 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with Pastor Denny Smith officiating.
