Obituary

Donald Raymond Lightfoot Sr., age 79 a lifelong Lake Station resident, passed away peacefully at home December 19, 2014. He was born on March 24, 1935. He graduated from Portage High School. Donald married his soul mate La Wanda on May 16, 1957. He worked as a Supervisor for 31 years at U.S. Steel. After retiring he drove a limo for Southlake Limo. He was a past councilman and was Park Board President for the City of Lake Station. Donald was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Donald liked traveling, watching his old time TV shows and spending time with his family and friends. When his beloved wife passed away in 2012 his heart broke and he missed her dearly. He can now be with her and he will be truly missed.

He is survived by three sons: Don (Tracy), Jim (Mary), Bill. Eight grandchildren: Crystal (Steve) Peek, Julie (Mark), Cheryl, Jenni, Bill, Rachel, DJ, Bradley: Four great-grandchildren. Brother, Rev. Earl (Harriet) Lightfoot. Brother-in-law: Donald Pavy. Sisters-in-law: Joanne Pavy, Judy Pavy, Joyce Delmage, Darlene Milar. And many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, La Wanda Lightfoot and brother Bob.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Donald's honor may be made to the Humane Society of donor's choice.
Visitation is Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Earl Lightfoot officiating.
