Don Luke

Hobart, Indiana

Age 89, a lifetime resident of Hobart, Indiana passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his home. He was born on April 16, 1934, to the late Ray and Martha (nee Sonntag) Luke in Hobart, Indiana. He was a member of the Hobart High School graduating class of 1952. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Augustana Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the ELKS Lodge BPOE 1152. He retired from US Steel, where he worked as a heater operator for 32 years, he also worked for Monroe Pest Control for 2 years and finished his career working for Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel for 53 years. He will be remembered as a loving father, uncle, significant other and friend.

He is survived by his son, Wally (Osa) Luke of Palm Coast, Florida; his partner and companion of 16 yrs., Nancy Ferris of Hobart; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Patricia L. Luke; his father, Ray Luke; mother, Martha Luke; four brothers, Robert, George, Harry, Ralph Luke and sister, Dorothy Jones.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., at Rees Funeral Home 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Scott Mauch officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 10:00 a.m.- until the time of service also on Thursday, May 25,  2023 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
