Obituary

Donald G. Nixon, age 80 of Lake Station, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. A Lake Station resident for 59 years, he was a retired ironworker, Local 395 of Portage. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War, a member of the Hobart Eagle's, Aries #2498, and the N.R.A. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his two dogs Toro and Dink.
He is survived by his friend and companion of 28 years, Patricia A. Coffing; son, Donald G. Nixon of Lake Station, 2 daughters, Roxanne Nixon Cantrell of Hobart and Dorinda Nixon Hendrix of Madison; 3 brothers, Kenneth E. Nixon of LaPorte, Harold (Yvonne) Nixon of Danville, IL and Gerald Nixon of Danville, IL; 1 sister, Sharon (Richard) Nicoles of Decatur, IL; 2 step sons, Michael and Randy Coffing of Lake Station; 9 grandchildren, Luke, Matt, Natasha, Aaron, Donald, Jonathan, Josh, Jake and Makaila; 2 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters, many nieces and nephews, favorite nephew Robert Nixon.
Preceeded in death by a grandson, granddaughter, 2 sons, 3 sisters, 3 brothers and ex-wife.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, IN. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart.
