Donald Purcell, age 81 of Portage passed away Tuesday, November 04, 2014. He was born on December 3, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward Anthony and Mary Elizabeth Purcell. Donald retired supervisor from ATT Phone Company. He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Church in Portage. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his two sons; William Purcell and Edward Purcell both of Portage, daughter, Kathleen Purcell of Portage, four grandchildren; William S. "Billy" (Samantha) Purcell, Chasity (Kenny) Taylor, Chadd Purcell and Tonya Purcell, six great-grandchildren, Kody, Kaylee and Kaine Taylor and Brooke and Blake Purcell, two sisters; June Draganowski of Valparaiso and Rose Bushwty of Arizona, numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 55 yrs., Margaret "Jan" (Nee McConnell) Purcell, his parents and brother, Raymond Purcell.
A funeral service will take place on November 7, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home- Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368, with Father Andrew J. Corona officiating. Donald will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for Donald will take place November 6, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service.
