Donald W. Zengler, age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Don was born in Hammond, IN on September 9, 1929 to the late Lawrence H. and Goldie Mae (nee Stennett) Zengler. Don was a United States Marine who proudly served in the Korean War. He retired from IBM after 35 years of employment. Don was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed bowling, computers and dancing. He will be remembered as a caring father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Don is survived by son, Donn W. (Marilyn) Zengler of Portage; daughter, Deborah (Dennis) McClure of Arizona; sister, Shirley Mae Flatt of Hammond; grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Dawn, Angela, Emily, Tommy;great grandchildren, Ethan, Ali, Dylan, and Michaela.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Norma (nee Quade) Zengler; son, Stuart Zengler; and special friends, Betty and Margaret.

A funeral service for Don will take place Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave Portage, IN 46368 with Chaplain Mark Grobner officiating. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Visitation will also be held Thursday, just prior to the service, from 11-1 pm at the funeral home.
