Doris R. Belt, age 84, of Lake Station passed away Saturday November 18, 2017 at the Porter County VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.  Doris was born August 14, 1933 in Momence, Illinois to the late John and Ruby (Tims) Schwartz.  Doris enjoyed collecting Salt and Pepper Shakers, Beanie Babies and Bobble Heads.  She was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church in Portage, IN. In recent years, Doris enjoyed the live broadcast from Heartland Christian Church in Valparaiso, IN.

She is survived by her four children, Dwayne (Elaine) Belt of Wheeler, Emil Garrett (Alicia) Belt of Wanatah, Debbie Belt of Valparaiso and Darlene (Richard) Usher of Valparaiso; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, James; her two brothers, Harvey and Howard Schwartz; and her sister, Wanda Bailey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 pm Friday November 24, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Ave. Lake Station, IN 46405.  Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will follow and the cremated remains will be buried in Mc Cool cemetery at a later date.
