Doris Mae Darnell

Doris M. Darnell, age 84, of Portage passed away Friday August 10, 2018 at the Symphony of Chesterton.  Doris was born November 23, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to the late Charles F. and Sallie (Gregory) Emery.  She was a retired cook working for a few Nursing Centers in the area.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Doris enjoyed putting together jig saw puzzles and watch TV especially The Bluebloods.  She attended the South Haven Church of the Nazarene when she was able.

Doris is survived by 4 children, Phillip (Stacy) Darnell of Westville, Daryl (Tina) Darnell of Portage, Deana Jacobs of Portage and Nancy Martinez of Portage;  ten grandchildren, Shawna, Laura, Sallie, Stacy, Kathleen, Dawn, Jami, Brent, Shannon and Shawn; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Dennis (Kathy) Emery of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Wanda Robinson of Evansville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Darnell; her parents; and three brothers, Charles Emery, William Emery and Thomas Emery.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday August 14, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368 with Pastor Scott Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in McCool Cemetery.  Visitation is Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
