Doris E. Koedyker, age 95, of Portage passed away Saturday June 1, 2013 at the St. Anthony Hospice Center in Crown Point. Doris was born June 23, 1917 in Garyton, Indiana to the late William and Laura (Short) Wolfe. She was a former employee of Fox Photo of Portage and Lloyds Luggage & Gift Shop of Gary. She was a longtime member of the Portage Historical Society and at the time of her death she was the oldest active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Portage.
Doris is survived by two loving daughters Beverly Uzelac and Cheryl (Dan) Mathis both of Merrillville; three granddaughters Pamela (Mark) Rapo, Shelly (Jim) Rush and Patricia (Clay) Ison; four great grandchildren Jamie Skadra, Mark Rapo, Brandon Sutkowski and Amanda Rapo; two great great grandchildren Steven and James Skadra and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children James McIlrath in 1976 and her second husband Alfred Koedyker; her parents; a granddaughter Vicki Blaylock; two brothers Robert and Harold Wolfe; and two sisters Mildred Pavel and Evelyn Janasch.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday June 5, 2013at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341Central Avenue Portage, Indiana with Pastor Michaile Broadnax officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Portage in lieu of flowers.
