Doris A. Nixon, age 79 of Lake Station passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012. She was a Lake Station resident since 1959 and was formerly of Danville, Illinois. She graduated from Schlarman Catholic High School in Danville. Doris worked as an Accountant and Auditor for Laquinta Inn in Merrillville. She was a member of the Hobart Eagles AERIE # 2498. Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping, fishing, shopping, rummaging, crocheting, working puzzles, Sudoku, and Facebook. Everyone who met her called her mom.

She is survived by 1 son, Donald Nixon of Hebron, IN; 2 daughters, Dorinda A. Hendrix of Madison, IN; Roxanne J. Cantrell-Nixon of Hobart, IN; 7 grandchildren, Natasha, Aaron, Jake, Josh, Donny, Matthew, and Lukas, 4 great-grandchildren, Michael, Joey, Chelsea, and Jillian, former husband, Donald J. (Pat) Nixon of Lake Station.

She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Lawrence "Larry" Trinkle, John Joseph Nixon, 1 grandson, Jay, and 1 granddaughter, Christine.

Funeral services are Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.
