Dorothea "Darlene" Mikolics

Dorothea "Darlene" Mikolics passed peacefully surrounded by her family, on March 13, 2017. Darlene was born on August 11, 1936 to the late Howard and Norma Hamilton. Darlene was a graduate of Calumet High School, Class of 1954.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Louis Mikolics. Their four children, Sherry, Garry, Denise and Ginger, from Hobart, IN. Along with 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-granddaughters. Darlene is survived by her brothers, Keith, Kenny, Donnie, Bobby and Randy Hamilton and her sister Sharon Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Darrell and Janet.

Many friends passed through her life during her years of service as a union meat wrapper then becoming one of the first employees of Holiday Inn in Merrillville as a banquet waitress. Her activities included a full social life with shopping as a passion, as well as the life on the farm and family canning with her loved ones. Her characteristics include loving, laughing, dancing, and selflessly listening to others. She contributed to Christmas in April Rebuilding Together, Kiwanis food drives, and loved her family reunions. She will always be in our hearts and the stories shared will always be remembered.

A memorial celebration will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 5 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating.
