Dorothy Lee Cannon, age 96, a longtime resident of Merrillville passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011. She was born on May 30, 1914 in Milan, Missouri, the daughter of Herbert and Nora Clem. Dorothy was married to James Boyd Cannon in 1934 in Milan, Missouri. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed puzzles, cooking, and playing cards. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family; son James Cannon, Portage, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Katherine "Kitty" Cannon, Wheeler, and other loving family and dear friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Cannon, son Glen Lee "Red" Cannon, and her son Mac Dean Cannon.

A visitation for Dorothy Cannon will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service for Dorothy Cannon will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Martin, officiating. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery.
