Dorothy Mae Conry

Dorothy Mae Conry, age 64, originally from Hobart and then Portage passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011. She was born on August 3, 1947 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Laverne and Leotta Manteuffel. She was a 1965 graduate of Hobart High School, received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Valparaiso University in 1969, and then her Master's Degree in Education from Purdue University in 1975. Dorothy taught 2nd grade in the Portage School System teaching at Garyton and then Aylesworth grade schools. Dorothy was a former Miss Hobart from 1965, and she enjoyed needlepoint and painting.

Dorothy is survived by her son Daniel Christopher Conry, granddaughter Aurora Lynn Conry, Hobart, sister-in-law Karin Manteuffel, Valparaiso, niece Kathryn Manteuffel, Portage, nephew Timothy (Suzy) Manteuffel, Valparaiso, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Marvin Manteuffel.

A visitation for Dorothy Conry will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Portage Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service for Dorothy Conry will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home with Pastor Deb Rousselle, officiating. Memorials in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Portage 1st United Methodist Church Sunday School program.
