Dorothy Forney (nee Sawa), age 84, of Portage, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015. She was born on May 31, 1931 in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Marie Sawa. Dorothy was a longtime member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed sewing and crafts. Above all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family and will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Dorothy is survived by her son: Michael (Lisa) Forney; daughters: Cynthia (David) Brosky, Jean (Mike) Pearlman, Kathleen Franzwa; grandchildren: David A. (Diana) Brosky, Michael E. (Carrie) Brosky, Heather N. (Jason) Forney-Brunelli, Ryan M. (fiancé Shelby Spinelli) Forney, Kelly (Frank) Horvath, Paul E. Zander, Alex (Sydney) Franzwa, Justin Franzwa; great grandchildren: Taylor M. Brosky, Kasey R. Brosky, Carter Franzwa, Nicholas Horvath.

She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Marie Sawa; beloved husband: Eugene Forney; brother: John C. Sawa; sister: Anna Wiesemann.

Per Dorothy's wishes, all services are private. She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
