Dorothy Alice Nitz (nee Hogancamp), age 86 of Portage passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011. She was born on February 26, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Benjamin and Bertha Hogancamp. She was a former resident of Chicago and Calumet City. She was a Portage resident for the past 3 years and attended the First United Methodist Church of Portage. Dorothy was devoted to her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to playing cards with her special friends at Millers Merry Manor.

She is survived by a son, Glenn (Martha) Yerby of Portage, IN; a brother, Bernard (Gena) Hogancamp of South Holland, IL; nieces and nephew, Bernie (Jean) Hogancamp, Caryn (Brian) Thompson, Cheryl (Rich) Fink, grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Woods, Jason Yerby, Traci Brubaker, David (Laura) Brubaker, and Daniel (Jacquelyn) Brubaker, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Yerby and Frank Nitz and son, Mark Yerby.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Dorothy's honor may be made to the charity of the Donor's choice.

Funeral services are Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Dennis Ticen and Rev Deb Rousselle officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Memory Lanes Cemetery in Dolton, IL. Visitation is Tuesday just prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
