Dorothy Rosaland Norman

Dorothy Rosaland Norman, age 92, of Chesterton and formerly of Lake Station passed away Sunday March 11, 2018.  Dorothy was born February 5, 1926 in Gary, Indiana to the late Herschel and Rosaland (Pinner) Harbison.  Dorothy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music in 1948 from Indiana University.  She then earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education also from IU. She retired from teaching as an elementary and music teacher.  She was a lifelong member of Community United Presbyterian Church in Lake Station.  She was a member of Hobart Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Chesterton Chapter of the Order of the Amaranth.  Dorothy was very devoted to her church.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, Andrew (Ramona) Norman of Hammond, Dennis (Maureen) Norman of Schaumberg, IL and Janet (Michael) Landrum of Chesterton; eight grandchildren, Aaron (Nui) Landrum, James (Michelle) Landrum, Rebecca (Dirk) Ippel, Tim (Monica) Landrum, Mark (Crystal) Norman, Paul (Sally) Norman, Matthew Norman and Daniel Norman; sixteen great grandchildren; her sister Carolyn (Charles) Libich of Crown Point; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana with Rev. Calvin D. Hawkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community United Presbyterian Church in Lake Station.
