Dorothy A. Shirey

Dorothy A. Shirey, age 97, of Syracuse, formerly of Hobart, Indiana passed away Friday, October 14, 2022.  She was born on April 22, 1925, to the late Harry and Ruth Small.  She worked at Comays Jewelers and Park Pharmacy.  Dorothy was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart.  She enjoyed boating, gardening, bird watching and checking in on Facebook.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie Shirey, one son, Gordon (Janet) Shirey, three daughters, Barbara Workman, Deborah (the late Tom Luedtke), Pamela (James) Williams, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan (Robert) Thornberry, one brother, John Small, two sisters, Ethel Peck and Helen Redding.

Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service.  Memorial services are Monday, October 17, 2022 at 7 p.m.  at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road.  Burial of Cremains will be at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial visitation is Monday, October 17, 2022 just prior to the service from 5 p.m.  to 7 p.m.  at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.  (219) 942-2109.
