DOROTHY R. ZIMMER, age 68, of New Chicago, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024. Dorothy was born in Gary on September 22, 1956. She was a graduate of River Forest High School and went on to earn a degree in Computer Science from Purdue Calumet.  After she spent 20 years at Prudential, she went on to be a self-employed computer consultant, sharing her skills as a billing specialist for Serenity Hospice and A ViaQuest Company.  She was proud to have served as Clerk-Treasurer of New Chicago from 2020-2023. Dorothy was formerly a very involved member at St. Francis Xavier, where she volunteered at BINGO and made many prayer blankets. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her 4 siblings, Nancy (Tom) Graver, Judy (the late John) Kujawa, Anna (the late Les) Shaw, and Michael Zimmer; sister-in-law, Linda Zimmer; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Gwen and Brian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Norma Jean Zimmer; brother, David Zimmer, II.

Per Dorothy's request, there will be no public funeral services. Cremation entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.

A Celebration of Life will take place in Spring of 2025 for Dorothy's family and friends.
