Douglas D. Lins, "Danger Doug", age 62, of Kouts, IN and formerly of Mishawaka, IN passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023.
Doug was born on February 26, 1961 in Nashville, TN to Delbert and late Margaret (nee Shaw) Lins. He was a graduate of Penn High School in Mishawaka, Class of 1978. Doug went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Governor State University. Doug was a member of Kouts Christian Church and played with the Worship Team. He was a former member of Life Bridge Christian Church.
Doug was destined to play music, having been born on Johnny Cash's birthday, and picked up the ukelele at the age of 8. From there, Doug went on to play acoustic and electric guitar and was a singer and songwriter. He was a member of many local bands as a guitarist. Doug was also the owner of Willowtree Recording in Kouts for over 30 years.
Doug met Karen Campbell while playing music and performed in the bands Hot Sauce and Island 49 together. They married on August 13, 2011 and spent 12 loving years together. Together, they own Scoville Brothers Hot Sauce, established in 2009. He was an accomplished gardener of chili peppers and flowers. He was a very smart man and always knew how to keep busy. Doug will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Doug is survived by his wife: Karen; daughters: Soren R. Lins and Morgan H. (Cody) Fields; father: Delbert Lins; siblings: Greg (Lilibeth) Lins, Becky (Jeff) Slater, and Patrice (Colleen) Lins; nieces and nephews: Dan (Gwen), Paul (Maddy), Evan, and Blake (Brandon); great nieces and nephews: Ida, Francis, Rosemary, and Joseph; beloved dog: Willow; friend: Robin Lins; and a host of other extended family, dear friends, and musical community.
Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd., Hobart) on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00-12:00. A Funeral Service will follow visitation immediately at 12:00 with Pastor Terry Wellsend and Pastor Steve Campbell. At Rest, Angelcrest Cemetery.
