Doyal Kirkland

Doyal Kirkland, age 74, of Hobart, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 16, 1943 in Altha, Florida to the late Hosea and Jewel (nee Berkett) Kirkland. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Inland steel. Doyal enjoyed spending time wood working, fishing, gardening and cooking. On April 1, 1969, he married the love of his life, Kathleen (nee Anderson) Kirkland. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Doyal is survived by his wife of 48 yrs. Kathleen; three sons, Jeffery Doyal, Alfred G. and Ricky Allen (Alaina) Kirkland; two daughters, Kimberly (Joe) Runca and Carol Kirkland; seven grandchildren, Hunter, Megan, Madison, Makenzie Kirkland, Gia Runca, and Remi and Alyssa Kirkland; sister, Hilda Temples, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred G. Kirkland and sister, Willow D Mears.

A funeral service for Doyal will take place Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
