KENNETH VEGA, age 54, of Crown Point, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at home, after battling cancer for six and a half years. Ken was born on June 3, 1956 in East Chicago to Esperanza and Manuel Vega. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years during the Viet Nam Era. Ken was a special agent for the Internal Revenue Service for over 23 years and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown Point. Ken enjoyed his time spent fishing at their cabin in Minnesota. Ken will be remembered as a wonderful husband and a loving father.
Ken is survived by his wife of over 26 years, Christine (nee Thyen); 2 daughters, Megan (Leonel) Sandoval and Nicole Vega all of Crown Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Ken will be Saturday, March 26, 2011 beginning with prayers at 12:15 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point, 46307 and processing to St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Joliet St., Crown Point for a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Patrick J. Kalich officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
